This post is a basic step-by-step of how to setup a Raspberry Pi as a web server. There is quite a few of those post out there but I wanted to put down what worked best for me.

Bear in mind that most commands have to be ran prefixed by sudo.

PHP GD + Far Cry 3

I’ve never had as much fun with PHP since the day I stopped using it for building websites. There’s a lot of fun to get out of it as a general scripting language and here’s another example.

I wanted to get stats about Far Cry 3 weapons, so I decided to do a bit of reverse engineering. The game has an iPhone app that lets you do “load outs” displaying weapons and bar charts for each property (damage, range, accuracy, fire rate and mobility). All I needed to do was to calculate the length of each property bar in pixels.

PHP + Sublime Text

I have been programming in PHP for some years but have recently re-discovered it as a great console-only-output tool. I wanted to put together a quick experiment parsing prices of Amazon and storing the result for later (although I will not go through any PHP code today).
As I found out, it’s really easy to set-up PHP on its own without the need for web servers and browsers.
